Nathan learns to crawl

Well it is one day after Nathan's 10 month birthday and today was the first day that he began crawling! It was about 7:00am when it happened and I was so excited that I woke up Joanna and told her that he was crawling!

We thought he'd go straight to walking since he didn't seemed interested at all in crawling...but it turns out that he's just doing things on his own schedule.

It's not nearly as exciting as a child's first steps I suspect...but it was very fun to watch him finally become self-propelled!

(I apologize for the video's poor lighting, it was early morning and the sun was just about to rise.)

First Kiss

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Today was Nathan's first kiss.

Joanna and I have been kissing him all the time and after about 20-30 kisses he would kiss us back (no puckered lips though...he doesn't know how to do that yet).

Well a couple days ago he started reaching for us when he wanted to be held and just today he kissed us on his own, without us kissing him first!

It's very strange to realize that he can understand much more than he can let us know about...but these kisses and him reaching out for us shows us signs that he really understands a TON more than we realize...very very cool phenomenon.

It's so amazing to see how kids grow and catch on to things so quickly. I really wish I could know what he's thinking about all the time.

Swim Stroke Analysis

Well I got my swim stroke analyzed again. I needed it since it's been a couple years since I got it done and my coach now does it MUCH more scientific. I'll post a few frames from the analysis once he completes it and sends me the CD.

The Swim Stroke Analysis consisted of underwater video swimming towards the camera and swimming away from the camera and above water video of the stroke from both sides.

We had about 7 people in the swim clinic and it was really good to see everyone. During the winter, most people hole up in their homes or gyms and we don't get to see each other much outside like usual during the regular tri-training season.

Nathan and Santa (p)

Well, this is Nathan's first Christmas. We went to see Santa today and were actually able to capture a photo of him NOT crying! He was a little stressed out on Santa's lap and I don't think he really liked his beard. The photo came out like he's under arrest...(hope that's not foretelling).

I made it to the gym yesterday (unbelievable) and did the same workout as Monday. I was in and out of the gym in under an hour but only did 1 set of all the exercises...I figured it's better than nothing.

I usually am a slug this time of year with the holidays and so many functions to attend, but when January hits I seem to begin to get back in the grove of working out (like most everyone with their New year's Resolutions). I'll have 8 months to train up for my 2 Ironmans at that time...should be enough time to get me through the races....gulp!

Holiday Cards (p)

So this will be Nathan's first Christmas and we got photos of him in a santa outfit...too cute! I have a feeling that my blog will be filled with Nathan photos.

I think it might be true with everyone's first child, you just can't get enough of them! They always seem to be the cutest creature in the world.

Perhaps once number 2, 3, 4, etc come along, then maybe the child "excitement" subsides, but for us today we are just so happy and immensely grateful for our little Prince!

Weight Room

Made it to the gym yesterday and did 50 min of adaptation exercises again.  25-30 reps for each exercise nice and SSLLOOWW on the way down for each rep.  Man, if I had to do an Ironman tomorrow I would for SURE become crippled.  I am so out of shape it's pretty sad.

I haven't been able to get on the Computrainer since Monday and I'm feeling pretty guilty about it.  I hope to squeeze in my "mandatory" weekly ride for the Infinite Computrainer Challenge tomorrw late afternoon when I come back into town.

I have to drive up to Wisconsin tomorrow to one of my investment properties and get a lease signed so that'll eat up my day from 6:00am until about 3:00pm.  I hate when I can't get my workout done in the morning because then the day slips by so fast...
